LOL and/or WTF
By now you’ve probably hurt yourself laughing at DamnYouAutocorrect.com like I have. And you know it’s funny ’cause it’s true.
I loathe autocorrect. But I especially loathe it when I’m trying to text LOD about something having to do with the kids.
The co-parenting relationship is already a little delicate, so we tend to choose our words carefully. And when you type something in and don’t realize the phone has changed the word to something else, radical misunderstandings can occur. “Form” slightly misspelled can become “porn,” “had” becomes “ham,” etc.
The other day I was texting LOD about the kids’ school lunch menu. Specifically the “Medical style baked beans.”
Yeah.
I really do think texting is the best thing since email for divorced parents. You can deliver only-somewhat-time-sensitive information when you think of it. You can have a fight without disturbing anyone else. You can let the other know you’re running late so no one gets angry.
But come on. Help a mother out. Medical style baked beans??
Damn you, autocorrect.
(The first commenter to correctly guess what “medical” was actually supposed to be wins the glory of being right.)

That one makes me laugh, but for sad reasons. I guess it’s better than if it autocorrected the other way, though…
Considering the stereotypical quality of both school and hospital food, “medical” may be an appropriate description….
I’m guessing “mexican.”
I’m going w/ Mexican, although…”Mexican style baked beans” sounds kind of gross.
Nora and Pixie, you two are so close!
I’m going with meatless
Mediterranean?
Mexicali?
Riza wins!
Yeeee-hah! Is there a Calexico-equivalent lunch spot where we can celebrate?
Last fall I texted my ex: [Boo] has a low fever & cough, dying.
He was not amused.
(Dying /= FYI)
Oh yeah. I just discovered DYAC the other day (at work, ahem) and was laughing so hard I couldn’t answer my phone.
Mole-style baked beans?
LOL what Kate said! My boss caught me laughing so hard I was crying and she wanted to know what was wrong. I totally played it off. EEK!
