What we haven’t been saying

April 16, 2012

We’ve been quiet around here lately. And the official party line is that we don’t have much to talk about. The truth is that we are doing some pretty active co-parenting for the last few months, but it’s all stuff we can’t talk about here. We’ve been having some issues with some external forces that have to do with the kids. But it would be foolish and mean to write about on the internet (especially in a small town).

So we’ve been working it out.

I’m hoping we can talk about it at some point, once we’re through it. The irony of all of this is that I think it’s pretty age-typical stuff, and would be helpful to talk about, whereas the co-parenting part of it is negligible. But since we’re out about who we are, there’s no way not to create a big hornet’s nest by blogging it.

So. What’s new with you?

I have a lot of admiration for you both and that you seem to work so very hard to cooperatively co-parent. I’m a paralegal who has been working on a case of divorced parents who can no longer co-parent effectively. It’s heartbreaking, and reminds me of my own parents in a lot of ugly ways. I’m not sure where I’m going with this, other than to say “well done” to both of you for making the kind of effort I’ve seen a lot of divorced parents not make.

Four of the scariest words are “No longer co-parent effectively.” Also: ” ‘Who’s the Boss?’ marathon.”
